Imperishable Salvacion #2

.

When someone says, “favorite escapade”, I remember my summer days 2 years ago April 18, 2008, at that moment, my father stays at his hometown-Surigao del Sur. He calls my mom and asked to follow and spent our summer there. My mother hesitates to say yes because she’s worried to left me alone at our home, but I insisted that I’ll be okay. Afterwards my father calls again and said “Bring with you our daughter, her grandmother wish to see her again”. At first I refused because the last time I go there, I feel so bored but to grant the wish of my beloved grandmother I went there with my mother. I packed my things that night just to make sure that important things will not be left behind, because my mom said that we may leave as soon as possible.

From Iligan City to Salvacion Surigao del Sur we ride 3 bus and 2 jeepneys, our travel was almost 12 hours. I and my mother left our house on April 20, 2008. It was 5’oclock in the morning when we ride bus from Iligan to Cagayan, ‘I’m excited yet so sleepy. While in the bus, I don’t sleep but I keep myself busy by eating some finger foods, texting and my most favorite part was watching the view, that’s why I sited near the window. After 2 hours we arrived at Bulua Terminal but we needed to ride jeepney going to Agura terminal, it takes us almost 30 minutes, but before we took another bus my mother decided to eat some breakfast first. I observed that everyone in the terminal was so busy, they just don’t care if they bumped someone as long as they can ride the bus. We’re lucky enough that the bus which was taking the Butuan routine was not full. While taking the bus I saw many structure, gardens, nice houses and etc. I enjoyed observing the different views because of that I don’t notice the time, it’s almost lunch time and the bus driver decided to stop at a restaurant nearby the street, which they call “Binuangan”, its little weird name, right? Almost 6 hours trip but I’m still active, but when we arrived at Butuan and need to ride another bus going to Surigao, I feel so bored so I sleep along the way. After 4 hours we arrived at Salvacion, Surigao del Norte. It’s almost 7 o’clock in the evening and a good timing, for my grandmother and aunt prepare some food for dinner. Before eating they welcome us warmly because it’s been a long time since we’ve been there.

When my imperishable escapade started, I adjusted lot of things like sleeping and waking up early. Every morning I and my family with my cousins goes to the beach called “BRITANIA” which located approximately 3 kilometers away from the house of my grandmother, to get the share of my fathers business which was fishing. He’s the one financing the fishermen needs. At the very first, it annoys me to walk 3 km just to get the share but days later I enjoyed it very much. We just merely walk because according to my father it’s a sort of exercise. In the middle of the way you can feel the peacefulness. You can’t see big infrastructures but only the horizon of huge rice field with carabaos and near distance was the so called “bahay kubo”. Few steps away were a garden of pineapple which was surrounded by tall coconut tress. I never expected that a place like that still exist. From the moment I saw the unique houses I feel that I’m in a place which was discovered hundred years ago, because some houses was built in a tree or a “tree house”. It’s my first time to glimpse a tree house. For me those houses were so amazing.

I spent my whole week with that routine. A week for discovering and appreciating the beauties of their nature was not enough for me. I with my guardian went home here in Iligan after a week of staying in Salvacion, Surigao del Norte. My Salvacion escapade was full of discoveries and imperishable moments in my life.

Mysterious Eyes #1

.

We all know that God have given us unique characteristics which will show our own identity, but honestly, I don’t have any idea what is my best asset among those unique characteristics. So, I used a survey method, by asking my family and friends, “What they think is my best asset that I should be proud of?”

My family and friends have common answer, and that was my “Mysterious eyes”. I’m totally puzzled! Many questions comes out in my mind. Is it because of its shape? (chinita) or it’s all about the long and curved eye lashes? but, “mysterious eyes”? Why they say so?

My curiosity was so eager. So I ask a couple friends of mine, why my eyes are mysterious. As my friends said, my eyes are mysterious because of the thousand things they could see. When their world is about to erupt, my eyes cheers them up, according to them because of its innocent look. Sometimes my eyes are like a clown, who tries to make them laugh when they are down, even though I’m in pain. My other friend added, that my eyes are unpredictable, because it seems like heartache don’t strikes on me and never affected me. All they can see is a pair of cheerful eye, that’s why they call my eyes as mysterious eyes. I’m amazed and also agree with their reasons, so I choose my eyes as my best asset, but I reminded them that, not all the time the fancy illusions are in my eyes. I may cry also when I’m in pain because I’m only human.

My eyes are marvelously part of the creation of God; I must be grateful and proud of it. My eyes will give me a sight to this colorful world and always be one of my guides to truth and lies.
